Fish A, B, C's There are many different adaptations of fish such as camouflage, protective coloration, poisonous spines, etc.
Defense: Many fish have adaptations which they use as defense. They can blow up their bodies like the puffer fish, have poisonous spines like the lion fish and stingray, have sharp spines like the three spine stickleback, and have a hard outer skeleton like the seahorse. The four-eyed butterfly fish has a false eyespot toward it's tail so that a predator thinks that it is the front of the fish. Angler fish have a "lure" which they dangle in front of smaller fish. When the fish get near, they are gobbled up! Flounders live on the ocean bottom burrowed in the sand. Their flat bodies and coloration allow them to blend into their environment.
